New Neighbor Spotlight: Chadarius Green

Our housing team has been steadily working to build stunning mixed-income homes during the pandemic. They’ve created housing opportunities that meet people from all walks of life, including young families who want to rent!

We are always excited to receive a new neighbor to Historic South Atlanta. We were especially thankful to welcome Chadarius Green and his family to our neighborhood! You may recognize Chad from Carver Market or Community Grounds, where he serves as the General Manager.

We caught up with Chadarius to hear a little bit more about this new chapter in his family’s life!

FCS: Thank you so much for taking some time to share with us! Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Chad: Sure it’s no problem. I am an aspiring financial businessman. I study finance and Georgia State. I came to Atlanta 7 years ago and found out about Carver Market through the former general manager, Josh Barber. I started working here and everyone welcomed me with open arms. Before I knew it, I was moving into a house here with my little family.

FCS: That is amazing! It’s true that working here quickly feels like being part of a family.

Chad: It does and it really means a lot to me. I’m the oldest of 7 children, so I like being a part of a big family and that’s what it feels like to be in Historic South Atlanta. Since so many of us live in the neighborhood I always see people I know in the store. I pass people I work with when I walk around. It makes it feel like home. Even though we moved in during Covid, our neighbors were so welcoming. They stopped by to see if we needed anything while keeping social distance.

FCS: Sounds like Historic South Atlanta for sure. Can you say a little more about what life has been like here, even in the midst of a pandemic?

Chad: Yeah! My family is big on parks and hiking and being outside. We have loved being so close to the Beltline and the 3 parks that are just 5-10 minutes away. And I have a small child, and another one on the way, so being close to things like the Aquarium and the Zoo has been really helpful. And back to the family feel – something is always going on around here in Historic South Atlanta. Whether it’s an event FCS is doing or a local church or a different organization, something is always going on, and that’s really refreshing.

FCS: Absolutely. Well, tell us a little bit more about what it’s like to be the General Manager of Carver Market.

Chad: Well, I’m pretty young but at any job I’ve had, I try to be the hardest working person in the store. Most of the time that effort goes unnoticed. But working at Carver Market, they just showed me how much I was appreciated. I got promoted, Jeff told me how comfortable he feels going away knowing the store is in my hands, and of course I got plenty more responsibilities. I really love it here. I’d really love to own my own business and create something like FCS’ model here, especially if it can connect with youth.

FCS: That sounds incredible. We know you have a lot on your plate, is there anything else you want to tell people?

Chad: I guess just emphasizing how amazing everyone has been. The house we’re renting is really nice. When the opportunity to apply as a renter opened up, it really felt like a family came around me. It’s a beautiful house, and we’re just really glad to be staying there and grateful for all of the support we got from the FCS family.

FCS: Of course! I know everyone on the FCS team was overjoyed at the prospect of having you and your family here in Historic South Atlanta. Thank you so much for your time and for all the work you put into the stores every day. We really appreciate you.

Chad: Thank you so much.

Welcoming neighbors like Chad is one of the key ways we’re building an equitable, mixed-income community where everyone can thrive. Chad is a perfect example of how neighbors make our community strong and welcoming, too. Be sure to show him and his family some love and appreciation next time you visit Carver Market and Community Grounds.
