We had a sweet and fun-filled time this past weekend at the tenth annual Treat Street. The evening featured a flurry of costumes, games galore, and neighbors enjoying each other’s company. We’re so grateful to the South Atlanta Civic League for putting together this colorful gathering year after year.
Treat Street started ten years ago as an event promoting community creativity and the whimsy of youth. Neighbors had noticed kids trick-or-treating on Halloween without costumes. Rather than let these young friends miss out on the joy of dressing up, the South Atlanta Civic League and other neighborhood groups banded together to put together a miniature fall-festival. It’s been a Historic South Atlanta staple ever since.
We’ve been thrilled to support this ebullient evening for years. It provides a great space for neighbors to meet and get to know each other, deepening relationships in the community. It’s also a place for community partners to come together, and local leaders to emerge. Some years, the youth of South Atlanta have even taken the lead on creating Haunted Woods (although not this year).
Here’s to another decade of Treat Streets in Historic South Atlanta! If you missed the event in person, take a moment and check out the live stream from the night to get a taste of the joy. It’s your celebration, too! Your support of FCS powers our community engagement efforts and fortifies our partnerships with groups like the South Atlanta Civic League.
