Pride For Parents Christmas 2006
It’s a small request but so important to them. It might be a doll, a jacket, roller skates, a baseball bat...Yet, whatever the wish, mom and ad may not be able to afford it. And nothing hurts more than the inability to provide their own special memories for their children.

That’s why we started a new tradition that’s built on dignity, not dependency. We call it: Pride for Parents.

This program, founded in 1983, is simple in concept, yet extremely rewarding to both parents and children in need. Parents are blessed with the gift of giving to their children. The children are blessed with a Christmas gift actually from their parents. And the program provides a meaningful way for the more fortunate to donate children’s gifts during the Christmas season.

It’s Easy To Help
Instead of giving a gift directly to a needy child, donate new and good used toys and clothes, for children of all ages, to The Family Store. We will sell them - not give them - to working parents who can afford to pay a small price. For those that are unemployed, we will provide work in the community. Payment for that work will be vouchers to be used to purchase Christmas gifts at The Family Store. And the purchase proceeds will be used to provide training and jobs for community residents that work in the store.

A Wonderful Way For Groups To Help
Pride for Parents offers a variety of ways for churches, businesses, groups and individuals to contribute. You or your organization may wish to host a “toy party” where invitees are asked to bring a toy. We will be glad to send a representative of our ministry to shape our vision and collect the toys. Or you may send or leave your individual gifts at The Family Store - 1299 Jonesboro Road, Atlanta, GA 30315.

You can also help us in other ways such as volunteering to help at the store, collecting gifts or in other acts of service to those in need.

Here’s a simple way to give the gift of dignity this Christmas. Visit your local Wal-Mart Store or www.walmart.com and select from a wide range of kids' toys and gifts.

  • Retrieve the Pride for Parents gift registry at any Wal-Mart store by entering “Pride” as the first name and “Parents” as the last name. Then use the registry as a shopping list.
  • At checkout, the cashier will take the list and scan the items you select directly from it.
  • Online shopping is also available. Click on www.walmart.com/wishlist/ and enter “Pride” as the first name and “Parents” as the last name. Find the item(s) you wish to purchase and add them to your cart. Go to the online checkout and complete you purchase using your credit card.
