All of us have influence. Great leaders are empathetic, good listeners, inclusive, and thoughtful. At FCS, we strive to be good neighbors, and we are always looking for new resources so we can continuously learn and grow.
Here are three of our favorite videos that encourage us to think deeply and gain new perspectives. We’d encourage everyone to watch these videos!
#1. Why Diversity Matters
In a talk full of anecdotal evidence and research, Dr. Katherine Brown shares how increasing diversity can truly benefit a group. She makes a convincing argument that we are better off collectively when we embrace each other’s differences.
#2. The Danger of a Single Story
Chimamanda Adichie shares the dangers of only hearing one stereotype, story, or perspective. In her talk, she encourages us to expand our view of the world and engage with people who are different, thereby gaining empathy.
#3. We Need to Talk About an Injustice
Bryan Stevenson talks about the brokenness of the justice system that disproportionately incarcerates African American males. He reminds us how we must look back at our history to keep moving forward.
