Thank you to our intern!

by FCS on

We are grateful for our partnership with Georgia Tech, which has connected us with many stellar interns over the years.  We have been lucky enough to work with our current intern for three semesters! Adrienne is a civil engineering student at Georgia Tech getting ready to graduate this month. She is a joy to work alongside of and we value the work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn she brought with her to FCS each day.

Adrienne says she applied to work with FCS to gain experience and enhance her resume. It didn’t take long for her to realize that FCS was a place of convergence for her passion for service, the community, and civil engineering.

Because Adrienne has been with FCS for three semesters, she has participated in many FCS projects, but her main focus has been in housing. She’s contributed to keeping our neighborhood map up-to-date and worked with renovation budgets. She also took before and after pictures of our latest properties and helped prep them for sale by ordering indoor fixtures and accessories.

When asked what she’s learned while here, Adrienne says it’s nearly impossible to put into words. She adds, “Working with FCS has been a true eye-opening experience to see the difference a non-profit can make in Historic South Atlanta. This internship is the inspiration for me continuing my education in City and Regional Planning.”

We are so grateful to have been a part of Adrienne’s education journey, and we have been similarly inspired by her passion for service and eagerness to make a difference. She is headed to Clemson University to pursue a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning, focusing on Housing and Community Development. We can’t wait to see the amazing projects she’ll be a part of in the future!

Adrienne says she will miss working with our staff, which she describes as like a family.  “I was unaware of how close an office could be. From the continual laughs at Farkle Fridays to the ongoing support during difficult times, the FCS family is truly unique and I will be sad to not have it in my daily life.” We feel exactly the same towards Adrienne, and we wish her all the best as she graduates!

We continue to be extremely grateful for the partnership with Georgia Tech that has brought so many wonderful students across our path. The energy, questions, and excitement students bring with them to FCS supports our work and our team!
