Some people thrive on the adrenaline surge of last-minute shopping. They rush out on Christmas Eve, battling the crowds in search of the perfect gift for every grandparent, niece, and neighbor.
But when you’re buying gifts for 450 families, you simply can’t wait until Black Friday. Goodness! We can’t even wait until it’s jacket weather in Atlanta again. And we know many churches and organizational partners are already thinking about holiday programming, too. So we want to keep you in the loop!
What Is Pride for Parents?
Pride for Parents is our annual Christmas toy sale for neighborhood families. It replaced our Adopt-a-Family program many years ago after we recognized the ways that model was unintentionally stealing the joy from parents who wanted to provide for their own kids.
So every year, we stock our shelves with new toys at greatly reduced prices, offering parents the delightful opportunity to purchase gifts for their children. Pride for Parents lets parents be responsible for the looks of glee on their children’s faces Christmas morning. It’s so much fun!
Will You Join Us?
We rely on church, corporate, and organizational partners to make Pride for Parents a success. As you start thinking about fall plans, would you consider a Toy Drive for Pride for Parents? Partners have done everything from boxes in the lobby to holiday parties with a toy as an entrance “fee.” Please contact us if you’d like to support Pride for Parents, and we will provide you with all the materials needed to make your Toy Drive a success. (Of course, we always accept donations as well!)
So enjoy these summer months with all their fun of swimming pools, watermelon, and sunscreen. But don’t forget Christmas will be here before we know it. We’d love your participation in this year’s Pride for Parents. For more information about getting involved, please reach out to Katie Delp at katie (at) fcsministries (dot) org.
