Want to learn how to have transformative impact in your community? We have a few suggestions and one invitation.
First, you can read the books. Second, you can host one of our training events at your church or ministry. Or, finally, you can follow our blog and social media posts. All of those are terrific ways to learn about our work and our philosophy of smart charity.
But (here is where the invitation comes in) there is something unique and wonderful seeing what community development looks like up close and personal. We would love for you to be our guest in Historic South Atlanta. Three times a year FCS hosts Open House, a two-day immersion learning experience with dynamic teaching, interactive sessions, and personal encounters with our work.
This July, we’re opening our house again, and we’d love to see you there! Here’s 5 things you can expect when you come:
#1 - You’ll hear honest insight.
We hope to provide true and practical insight into our programs that have worked well and those projects that didn’t quite get off the ground. This is not a gathering to promote our work, but a time for all of us who are seeking good for our communities to learn and grow.
#2 - You’ll laugh with familiar stories.
FCS staff, including Founder Bob Lupton and our Director of Education and Training Shawn Duncan, will share from their experiences and our organizational history. Some stories have also appeared in Dr. Lupton’s books, and some will ring so true for you who are also serving a similar context.
#3 - You’ll have some insightful conversations.
We host practitioners and ministry leaders from across the country. Yet we keep registration limited to maintain an intimate event. Interactive table activities create opportunity to discuss and learn with other attendees. The content from our speakers will also provide great conversation starters with your own team.
#4 - You’ll see our innovative work in action (especially our new grocery store!)
Carver Neighborhood Market has gained local and national attention. We can’t wait to show you around and see how this “right-sized retail” model is working in our neighborhood. You’ll also be able to tour our neighborhood, see our housing ministry, and visit our coffee shop.
#5 - You’ll be able to ask questions.
This event is not a conference. We want to welcome you into our house and have a great conversation. You’ll have ample opportunity to ask our leadership and program directors everything you want to know!
Come join us in July! Get behind the stories and down to the nitty gritty of transforming commuities. We’d love to meet you! For details and registration, CLICK HERE.
Can’t make it this summer? Mark your calendar for October 24-25 for our final 2016 Open House. Email to let us know you're interested!
