The South Atlanta Bike Shop connects with youth and helps them recognize and develop their potential. Our Earn-A-Bike program is very popular, and many youth have worked to earn their own bike, as well as bikes for friends and family members.
We also offer teen employment opportunities. We seek to provide job training and experience to our local youth. Today we'd like to introduce you to Cheynah, one of our employees.
Q: How long have you worked at the bike shop? Please explain a little bit about your role.
Cheynah: I've worked there for three years and eight months. I am a Mechanic and the Sales Manager. I choose what we will charge for the bikes and parts. Also, I work with youth as a mentor by teaching them mechanical skills. It's my favorite thing about the job!
Q: What's something you've learned in this role?
Cheynah: I've learned about great customer assistance and communication skills. I've also learned about how to run a business.
Q: What's been one of your favorite rides?
Cheynah: My favorite ride was the Cycle of Love. It was a 168 mile ride from Alabama to Georgia. It was hard at first, but when I finished, I was proud of myself. And I did two years in a row!
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
Cheynah: My three favorite things outside of work are to read, spend time with family, and watch movies.
