Adopt-a-Grandparent Program
Adopt-A-Grandparent Program brings into relationship seniors who need and desire a supportive relationship with caring volunteers. Seniors who live in neglected urban neighborhoods often feel a sense of isolation. A personal relationship with a younger person brings new vitality to the spirit of elders and richness to the lives of volunteers.

Mission Statement
The Adopt-A-Grandparent Program seeks to enhance the lives of seniors through Companionship, Health and Wellness, Community Involvement and Spiritual Growth and Healing producing empowered, healthy, laughter-prone individuals.

Programs
The Adopt-A-Grandparent Program is the ideal forum to exercise your gifts of loving, listening and caring for others. If you have a love for the older generation, here is an opportunity to use your creativity in service, even if you have no prior experience. The main requirement of your volunteer position with Adopt-A-Grandparent is to learn how to receive the gifts the seniors give you. This is an art that takes some doing since most of us are much better givers than receivers. There are three options for volunteer opportunities with Adopt-A-Grandparent. They are: a Friend, an On-Call Driver or a Board Member.

Events
  • South Atlanta Project – a concentrated effort to identify and bring support to all seniors in the neglected South Atlanta neighborhood
  • Dance-A-thon – a unique experience to celebrate the culture, music and movement of past generations while raising money to support the Adopt-A-Grandparent ministry
  • Annual Barbecue – fun event for seniors/volunteers; need individuals and churches to help with set-up, preparation – and transportation for a few seniors
  • Annual Christmas Party – seniors and volunteers enjoy dressing up and being served by Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in Snellville, GA
